“Other Memory” comes from the Bene Gesserit mythology of women’s histories and memories. We are deeply interested in creating platforms for women’s voices and exploring life at the peripheries and transgressive spaces in Pakistan and the world.
Anam Abbas is a Pakistani/Canadian film producer, director and cinematographer. She is a 2018 Berlinale Talents, 2020 Berlinale Talents Project Market, 2019 Film Independent Global Media Makers, 2020 Cannes Producer’s Network fellow, and the NSI/EAVE Access Bipoc Producers Lab. She has also served as selection Jury for Sheffield Meet Market and the Berlinale Talents Doc Lab.
Anam is the recipient of the Toronto Reel Asian Film festival Truth to Power Award and the Tom Lantos Best Human Rights Documentary Award and for This Stained Dawn. She is also a nominee for the 2023 Indiescreen award for Emerging Producer.
Anam is one of the founding members of the Documentary Association of Pakistan (DAP). DAP is a recipient of the 2019 Movies That Matter grant for its national initiative the “Chalta Phirta Film Festival” which will travel across Pakistan from August 2019 to August 2020. DAP has also been awarded the Mastercard/Berlinale Footprints Fellowship in 2020.
